Mariam EM Abu Dhabi is quietly doing something extraordinary: building a clean beauty brand rooted in UAE heritage ingredients, starting with one of the most underrated botanicals in the region: Sidr.
If you’ve been dealing with oily, heat-stressed skin in the UAE, the 45-degree summers, the AC set to arctic, the constant sebum battle, and you haven’t found a local answer yet, this is it. The Balance & Soothe Face Serum is the product I didn’t know I needed, and it changed my skincare evening routine within two weeks.
I found Mariam EM Abu Dhabi while researching Sidr on Google. And the more I learned about the brand and the formulation, the more I realized this was a well-built product with a clear purpose. Lucky me.

Mariam EM Abu Dhabi and the Ancient Power of Sidr
Sidr, the leaf of the Ziziphus Spina-Christi tree, has been used across the Arab world for centuries. In traditional medicine, it purifies. In Mariam EM Abu Dhabi’s hands, it’s a verified skincare ingredient: antibacterial, skin-clearing, and deeply tied to the natural heritage of this region.
This isn’t a trend ingredient imported from South Korea or Scandinavia. It grows here. It belongs here. And for those of us interested in heritage ingredients native to this part of the world, finding it in a serum at a fair price feels significant.
You can read more about heritage ingredients available in Dubai, and the deeper context for why Sidr skincare UAE matters right now.
“MARIAM EM was founded with the intention to create holistic beauty essentials that naturally nourish your body and skin. Our pampering collection of products features simple formulas for inspiring beautiful daily rituals and infusing your everyday care with an element of spa-like luxury.”
— Mariam EM, Founder
That’s not marketing copy. After using this serum for four weeks, that is exactly what it delivered.
The Balance & Soothe Face Serum. What’s Actually in It?
- Sidr (Ziziphus Spina-Christi Leaf Extract)
The brand’s signature ingredient. Purifying, protective, and traditionally used for skin health across the Gulf region. Not a filler. - Niacinamide
Reduces pore appearance, evens skin tone, and addresses the dullness that UAE heat tends to create. A smart pairing with Sidr. - Salicylic Acid
Gentle exfoliation unclogs pores and keeps breakouts in check. Essential for oily skin in humid climates. My favorite ingredient in the formula. - Rosa Damascena Flower Water + Allantoin
Calming and soothing. For skin aggravated by sun, sweat, or the sudden cold of indoor air conditioning. - Sodium Hyaluronate + Glycerin
Locks moisture in without adding greasiness. The reason this serum works under the UAE sun. - Nigella Sativa, Sesame, Sweet Almond
Antioxidant-rich botanical support. Nourishment without heaviness.
What you won’t find: heavy fragrance, unnecessary fillers, or anything that contradicts the clean beauty UAE brand positioning. The full ingredient list is published on their product page, transparently, which is rare and appreciated.
“I wake up with glowing skin — not oily, but smooth and radiant. After two weeks, the texture, tone, and pores were visibly different.”
Four Weeks With the Mariam EM Balance & Soothe Face Serum. My Honest Notes

I started using this serum in late July. Peak summer. 45°C outside, 21°C inside, and my skin performing its worst impression of an oil slick.
I used it four nights a week, after cleansing, before moisturiser.
Week 1
Early signals. I was cautious. New ingredient, Sidr, entering an already established routine. No reaction. No purging. The texture is silky, fast-absorbing, and zero-residue, which makes layering easy. A few drops cover the face and neck completely.
Week 2
Visible improvement in texture and pores. By day ten, I noticed the skin’s texture and pore appearance had changed. Skin is waking up less congested. That alone was enough to keep going.
Week 3-4
The balance is real. Not matte-flat. Not greasy. Skin that looks like it’s being managed from the inside out. The dehydration and irritation I usually deal with from constant air conditioning were notably reduced.
The scent is subtle, earthy, botanical, quiet. I go to bed smelling like I belong here a little more. That sounds like a small thing. It isn’t.
My husband started using it on his T-zone. It works equally well on his skin. This oily skin serum does not need a gender.
Why Mariam EM Abu Dhabi Stands Out in the Made in UAE Skincare Market
There are good Made-in-UAE skincare brands. There are also brands that use “local” as a marketing angle without the formulation to back it up. Mariam EM Abu Dhabi is not the latter.
Transparency. Full ingredient list published. No hiding behind “proprietary blend” language.
Sustainability. Eco-conscious packaging, cruelty-free, vegan. Aligned with what a growing number of UAE residents are actually looking for.
Built for this climate. This serum was not adapted from a formula designed for European skin or a different humidity level. The UAE environment was the starting point.
Price. Fair. For a clean beauty UAE brand of this calibre, the price point is not a barrier.
Delivery. Free across the UAE. The online experience is smooth. No friction.
I am not aware of Mariam EM being available in stores across the UAE, but the online order and delivery experience is genuinely pleasant.
Should you buy the Mariam EM Abu Dhabi Balance & Soothe Face Serum?
If you have oily, combination, or breakout-prone skin and you’re living in the UAE, yes. Without hesitation.
If you have sensitive or reactive skin, looking for something that soothes without stripping, also yes. The Ziziphus Spina-Christi, Allantoin, and Rosa Damascena combination does real work.
If you’re building a routine around heritage ingredients in UAE skincare and want to support brands that are doing it properly, this is exactly where to start.
